My new sound posts are sourced from the highly regarded wood merchant Alpentonholz, and are made from locally sourced Bavarian Alpine Spruce. He cuts his trees at the exact right time in Winter and stores it in his workshop until it is time to work it.
All the wood is seasoned and turned in his workshops. All width measurements are = +/- 0.2mm
Soundpost Grade Specs:
Excellent Grade (AA): Made from a minimum of 5 year old, split spruce.
Premium Grade (A): Made from seasoned wood minimum of 5 year old.
Good Grade (B): Made from seasoned wood minimum of 5 year old, with greater variance in number of reed lines.
